Piano moving in Budapest, handled safely at a fixed price

A piano internal mechanism, string tension and uneven weight distribution mean that one wrong angle or a sudden tilt can cause serious, sometimes hidden damage. An inexperienced crew often underestimates the true balance point of the instrument, particularly with a grand piano, where the body and legs form separate units.

That is why every piano move starts with an assessment of the instrument type, size and the route it needs to travel: stair widths, turns and doorway clearances. This shapes which equipment we bring and how many people are on the crew, so the move stays controlled at every stage.

For an upright, we place the weight on a purpose-built piano dolly and straps, padding the keyboard and casing against scratches and knocks. For a grand piano, we remove the legs and lyre, secure the body to a skid board, and pack the removed parts separately.

Every surface is protected with wrapping and padded material for the full journey, and all lifting uses straps and equipment designed specifically for pianos, not general moving webbing. This distinction is what makes the difference between a safe move and a risky one, and packing is always done on site to match the instrument condition.

In a narrow stairwell, on a sharp turn, or with a balcony approach, carrying an object this heavy and this shaped by hand alone can be risky. In these cases we bring stair-climbing equipment or another specialist lifting method, so the instrument moves in a controlled, steady manner.

Where the entrance or stairwell simply will not allow a conventional move, we arrange craning through a window or balcony, following an on-site survey beforehand. Every move is covered by insurance, and we recommend having the piano tuned after arrival, once it has settled into its new environment.
